Lukashenko Promised to Further Care about Army
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said, speaking on February 23 to mark the Day of Motherland's Defenders and the Armed Forces of Belarus at the reception of the Armed Forces and law enforcement officials, that the state would keep on paying close attention to social security, military education and technical training of the military.
"The military prowess, courage and honor, readiness to defend freedom and independence of the country at any moment — these traditions with deep historical roots, have become part of our everyday life," said the head of state, BelTA informs.
"Numerous foreign invaders, bursting to enslave and destroy Belarus, have vanished and become history due to the fact that patriots have always been ready to fight for every inch of their native land to the last drop of blood. Heroic warriors are honored in our country as righteous, who gave their lives for their Motherland," said the president.
"The army has risen from the knees — our Homeland has revived. We've been building the armed forces of the sovereign Belarus together," stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
Earlier, according to Telegraf, the president said he was ready to resort to the military for preventing attempts to overthrow the constitutional order. However, the head of state stressed that he would take such measures only in exceptional cases. Former Defense Minister of Belarus Pavel Kozlovski believes that these statements by the head of the country proves him being in a panic.
