United Nations adopts International Translation Day
On May 24, the United Nations passed a resolution to adopt September 30 as International Translation Day.
"This resolution is about the under-appreciated role of language in the life of our human society. We feel that this deserves further discussion, perhaps legal protection of those translators working in conflict zones and in situations of higher risks," said Andrei Dapkiunas, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations.
